How to update the Windows USB driver for LSMP and CSMP devices

NOTE: Only Windows 10 or 11 is currently supported.

When trying to update the firmware for CSMP or LSMP device there is a timeout, it may be due to a missing or obsolete USB driver. A simple fix is to update the USB driver on the Windows PC.

USB driver update procedure for Windows 10/11 PC:

  1. Download the drivers from this URL and unzip it into some temporary folder. Remember this folder location https://www.silabs.com/documents/public/software/CP210x_Universal_Windows_Driver.zip
  2. Connect Zenseio device to your PC using the USB cable If your PC prompts you for the driver, follow the "Prompted install" method. Otherwise, follow the "Manual install" method.

    ### Prompted install ###
    If Windows prompts you to install a driver for a CP210x device (for example, if you plug a CP210x into your computer):
    a. Use the dialog to browse for the driver location
    b. Locate the driver folder (that you previously unzipped)
    c. Follow the instructions

    ### Manual install ###
    a. In the Taskbar Search window (at the bottom of the screen), type "device manager". When the search results appear above, select "Device Manager, Control Panel" item
    b. Under "Ports (COM & LPT)", there will be an icon about CP210x with an exclamation point or question mark. Right-click on this icon, and choose "update driver" option
    c. Select "Browse my computer for drivers" option d. Select the driver folder (that you previously unzipped)
    e. Follow the instructions

  3. Unplug the USB cable from PC and plug it back again. After this, it should start working reliably.
