NOTE: Only Windows 10 or 11 is currently supported.
This process will update your LSMP or CSMP device to the latest firmware version. It will also update the device configuration to the default one.
The process is very easy and takes about 1 minute. All you need is a standard micro-USB cable (or a programming dongle for older Zenseio devices) and a Windows PC.
When updating LoRa Devices (LSMP), rarely the radio firmware requires updating before the device runs its own update. This is done automatically during the update process, and the update software will show a confirmation message when the radio firmware update is complete before initiating the device firmware update. Do NOT unplug your device after the radio firmware update confirmation, as this will interrupt your device's update process, and may cause corruption to its firmware. Make sure to wait until both the radio and device are updated, and you are prompted that the firmware update is complete.
Preparations:
Download zenseio_firmware_upgrade.zip file in the Attachments section at the bottom and unzip it into a folder. (Remember the location of the folder.)
IMPORTANT: if Zenseio advises you to use a different zip file, please do no use the above zip file. Instead, use the zip file that Zenseio recommends.
Make sure the USB cable you are using is able to transfer data as well as power.
Some USB cables are only capable of transferring power, and therefore cannot transfer the data necessary to update your device. If you cannot locate your device in your computer's Device Manager, you may need to change your USB cable.
Be sure to never power on your device without attaching the antenna, starting the device without an antenna connected risks irreparably damaging the device's radio
To update:
For each device/station:
Use File Explorer to open this folder
Keep the device powered down
Connect USB cable (or programming dongle) to your PC and device
Turn on the power switch on the device
Double-click on the file "upgrade_zenseio.bat" and press ENTER when prompted
You should see green and red LED's starting to blink and the progress text written to the screen
DO NOT interrupt the process until you see the success message (interruptions may render the station "bricked")
Once the device update is finished, turn off power switch on the device and remove the USB cable
When your update is complete, you will see this confirmation message(Do NOT unplug your device until you see this):
That's it. This simple procedure will keep your device at its best.
If for any reason the update process fails and your device does not function correctly, please shut it down and contact Zenseio support.
If your device is detected by Windows Device Manager as a Silicon Labs Device but it shows an error icon, you may need to update your USB driver in order for your update to work properly. Click the link below for more information.
