Connecting a Sensor to Your Zenseio Device

Connecting a Sensor to Your Zenseio Device

Zenseio devices support a wide range of common IoT sensors for agriculture and connecting them to your LSMP or CSMP is quick and easy. LSMP and CSMP support both cold plugging (connecting a sensor while the device is powered off) and hot plugging (connecting a sensor while the device is powered on), though cold plugging is generally recommended unless the device needs to stay on for your given application. The following steps will walk you through both processes:

Cold Plugging Method
1. Ensure device is powered up.
2. Configure GPI ports to the desired settings (appropriate mode, VAUX, and timing) with ZenConfig.
3. Press the button after configuring the device with NFC to save the configuration in the NFC. (The button press activates device microcontroller to read the config from the NFC chip and saves it into its memory. If this is not done, the config will be erased upon the power restart.
4. Wait until LED’s stop flashing for several seconds before powering down.
5. Connect the sensor. (See the video above for detailed instructions)
6. Power up device (but do not press the button to avoid factory reset).
7. Wait a minute for the device to initialize before reading the NFC.
8. If the sensor reading is not as expected, advise user to check the configuration settings and the connections and try again by pressing the button.

Hot plugging:
1. Ensure device is powered up and idle (LED’s not flashing for a while).
2. Configure GPI ports to the desired settings (appropriate mode, VAUX, and timing) with ZenConfig. Maybe show this for the temperature sensor, although VAUX and timing settings are not relevant to this type of sensor.
3. Connect the sensor. (See the video above for detailed instructions)
4. Press the button to test. Wait a minute before reading the NFC.
5. If the sensor reading is not as expected, advise user to check the configuration settings and the connections and try again by pressing the button.
