Updates to Zenseio Device Hardware (2023)
The latest models of Zenseio's LSMP & CSMP devices (2023, hardware version 4.1 designation on PCB) will ship with a few differences from previous models:
- Improved non-rechargeable battery: it has more capacity and better low-temperature performance, among other things. However, due to increased weight, we don’t insert it into device in factory, but package it inside the inside device carton box. So, if you are using this battery (and not the solar-charging kit), unwrap the battery, insert it into the metal clamps and plug in the wire into “Batt.” Socket.
- LSMP stations got additional cable gland for solar panel cable (or for additional sensor cable), making it the same look and feel as in CSMP.
- Both LSMP and CSMP have received additional hardware support for RS-485 Modbus RTU sensors. This feature has not been implemented in the firmware yet and we currently don’t have a specific timeline for it at this time. However, there are a few points you should keep in mind:
- The position of VAUX and SDI-12 sockets have been swapped on the green connector
- There is an additional “B” socket (for RS-485 Modbus) which should stay unconnected in SDI-12 mode
- There is a small switch next to the green connector, labeled R-S. For best reliability, the white marker on the switch should point towards the “S” letter for SDI-12 mode. The first batch of devices might have some of the switches pointing towards the “R” letter. If this is the case, please use a needle to slide the switch towards the “S” letter.
